Yes, this is how I felt this weekend....no work, just play! Although playing around with silver, yarn, and other creative stuff could technically be considered as work...I guess that is what happens when you're trying to turn your hobby into a little business!
The last couple of weeks I've been working on a secret project! It's actually something that I started with my girlfriend last Christmas as a kind of joke, but people around us really seemed to like the idea and design. So this year, we're trying to take it to the next level! Hopefully the result will be in the shop in October, after we get back from our holiday.
This weekend I spent the entire Saturday in a meeting. Not as bad as it sounds, but unfortunately not creative-stuff-related. So, today (Sunday) I planned some time to work on a few projects. We've actually been working on this mosaic table for quite a while, but I made a miscalculation in the amount of tiles we needed. So I had to order new ones and they took weeks to be delivered....not much fun for an impatient person like me. But we're getting somewhere now! Here are a few previews:
I actually already hacked a LACK Ikea table a few years back by building a mosaic on top of it. But as you can see below, it's becoming a little grubby and bits of grout are falling off.
So, time for a new one! This one is going to live outside and will hopefully host many lovely summer dinners. Once we finish it anyway...so that might be next summer. Oh well.
Some new materials were delivered to my doorstep today! My fingers are itching to get started, but I have a few other projects lying around that I should probably finish first. Although making just one new bracelet couldn't hurt, right...the rest of them have to wait until my holiday in September!
I'm usually not the type to keep a close eye on what's in fashion and that the new colors of the season are, but now I have this shop my interest is sparked. Apparently, Pantone is the place to go when you want to know which colors will be in fashion next. As you can see, I choose some colors that are dubbed 'colors of fall 2014' (and actually like them) but not all. I keep coming back to mint and salmon...so it's a good thing Pantone forces me to use other colors as well!
